Preschool is an early intervention program for "At Risk" four-year-olds. It is a full-day program Monday through Friday. The maximum class size is 18 students with a teacher certified in early childhood education and a teacher's assistant. Early intervention is a way to lay positive foundations, increase the chances for successful school experiences, and prevent later failures. Parental involvement and providing support to families are emphasized in our program. In order to qualify for the program a child needs to be four by September 30th of the entering school year. A child's screening and a parent interview are completed to decide if a child is eligible. Some of the risk factors include developmental concerns, family stress factors, homelessness, family income, and English as a second language.
