Greetings Eastin Families:

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, NHUSD will make our remote educational resources and options through our Learning Menus fully available for students and parents. Please visit our district's website at, scroll down to the "SPOTLIGHT" section and click on **NHUSD Remote Learning** to access these resources or select from the links in this embedded in this email.

Please understand that these Learning Menus are not a substitute for in-classroom instruction. In this model, learning menus are intended to provide our students with learning experiences and opportunities to access core content curriculum. This work is optional and will not be graded.

To the degree possible, teachers will attempt to support students during this time. However, given that we are under a “Shelter in Place” order, their support and availability may be limited during the duration of this order, which is currently in place until April 7. If you send an email or voicemail request to teachers or staff, please understand that we may have a limited ability to respond and, in some cases, may not be able to respond at all.

If you would like to have a printed copy of the Learning Menus, they will be made available on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 9:00am - 12:00pm at James Logan HS. They will be located where food is being distributed to students.

It is important that your child continue to be engaged in learning opportunities during this unprecedented time. However we understand that your family needs may make this difficult. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves. We are looking forward to having our students back in our classrooms in the near future.

Breakfast and Lunch Availability

During this current school dismissal period, the New Haven Unified School District will have four (4) sites available throughout the District for NO COST “Grab and Go” breakfasts and lunches for ALL students. “Grab and Go” locations are: James Logan High, Cesar Chavez Middle, Alvarado Elementary, and Hillview Crest Elementary School from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

To minimize unnecessary trips, students will be given two days’ worth of breakfasts and lunches on Mondays and three days’ worth on Wednesdays. Similar to summer meal programs, students must be present to pick up these meals.

These meals come pre-cooked and will include milk and a fruit or vegetable. These meals need to be refrigerated until used. Families are encouraged to bring a grocery bag or coolers to transport the meals.
