1 to 1 Technology Update
1 to 1 technology at PHS is going. One of the biggest concerns from the community was if the broadband could withstand 1,600+ students at once. We're happy to say, it has been working effectively. The most common problems have been with login and password issues. These are usually easily resolved and get the students back into the classroom quickly. There is still a bit of a learning curve happening with the new Schoology program that we have adopted but things are flowing smoothly.
What if I lose or break my device?
Student devices are under warranty for breakage through the school. However, this is only for the tablet and keyboard.
Additional insurance is available for lost or stolen devices through GoCare Warranty Group. Please visit the PHS Website for more information on this product. Please have your ST Number ready, which can be found after removing the keyboard.
Damage or Loss to the Charging Cord or Stylus is not included in the warranty. Replacement parts can be purchase directly from Dell. You may be able to find the same items on ebay or amazon for considerably less. Be careful! The “Dell Active Stylus” is the only stylus that will work on the student devices. The charging cord can be any USB micro type B cord with a wall plug.

Student Cell Phones
Welcome back to school! Hopefully everyone is refreshed and ready to meet new challenges and have new adventures! One of the emerging challenges for me is student use of cell phones. More and more frequently, students will text their parent while they are in class saying they are sick and want to go home. While that may be true, please instruct your child to come to the nurse’s office and I will contact you personally. When students come into my office, I will document the signs and symptoms they are experiencing and talk with their parent or guardian myself. Please do not have your child leave for an illness without having visited my office. Recording where students are will keep the attendance office updated so they will not be searching for your child when he or she is suddenly missing.
