Library News for Teachers!
Adams Central Elementary
Author Visit
Unfortunately, we have not been able to secure an author at this point. I will continue to look and maybe we can slip someone in at the end of the year.
Art and Music Week Books are on Display in the Library Windows!
New Teacher Preview Books are Available!
Great for K-5
Keep primary students engaged with this new non-fiction series or add a twist to informational writing pieces in the upper elementary! This new nonfiction series breaks down topics into interesting facts and entices the students into personally deciding if they author is telling the truth!
Primary eBooks
We have a new series of phonics and easy readers books that have an ePub version of the book available. You can choose to read the book aloud or download the online version to read together on your smart board!! Ask Debbie for details.
Choose your own adventure!
Some of you may remember this concept that originated in the 70s. An author writes a story that engages the reader by having them choose the path they want the story to take. A new twist on this concept is allowing students to experience history by having them make decisions that people in history would have made! What a way to deepen the student's understanding of what is being taught in the classroom!
Appy News
Fantastic Flying Books
This was an app shown to K-2 students. It literally makes the books come to life! It is the only one of its kind, yet! It is a paid app that we have downloaded on Mrs. Spiegel's iPad. If you want to view it or show ti to your class. Talk to one us in the library :)
More than just book fair!
This is an app that Scholastic Book Fairs has created based off of their Book Wizard online program. It allows you to scan the cover or barcode of a book. If the information is available, it will show you the Lexile and/or Guided Reading Level of the book. It can be used at the book fair or any book you might have laying around! Search using the words "book fairs".
Project Idea!
Chatterpix Kids is a free app with lots of potential. Students can upload a picture and make it talk! This could be a way to publish information learned when researching by uploading a picture and having the picture tell facts about itself. This could also be a great way practice the trait of voice in writing! See Debbie for a demo or more info!
Book Fair
The week we come back from spring break, we will be showing the book fair video in the library. The following week, we will be setting up the library and buying days will run Friday, April 11th - Wednesday, April 16th. You should be getting a copy of the schedule to look over and approve sometime this week. If you have any questions, please let me know.
May Swimming
Our final swimming week is the mornings of May 13-16. If you know of any conflicts please let us know. We will begin working on this schedule soon.
