All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate September 25, 2020
SLI Families:
Welcome to fall everyone! As you are aware our SLI students will be full face to face, five days a week beginning this coming Monday, Sept. 28, eliminating the hybrid of purple and gold days. However, next week is only a four day week as Oct. 2 is a teacher professional development day.
While we are returning full face to face this Monday, we will continue to monitor health data to determine if returning to hybrid or transitioning to remote learning in the future is necessary for student and staff health and safety.
I have included the family communication that was sent yesterday via email regarding the full face to face return as well information about the Ocon Virtual Learning Community (OVLC) in this Smore. Families have until Sunday, Sept. 27, at noon to fill out the form link in the OVLC information if they would like to transition to the OVLC from face to face learning. Whether transitioning to the OVLC or returning full face to face, it can cause a variety of emotions including anxiety. Please read through the Student Services Support section of this Smore for more information.
The MAP testing window is Sept. 28- Oct. 16. Grade levels will be communicating the days they will be testing.
Enjoy the warm weather this weekend - apple picking???

Missing Pictures? Need to Contact LifeTouch?
Don't be alarmed if your child calls you from the principal's office! Yes, sometimes students make unwise choices as part of their growing and learning during adolescence and SLI administration will call to speak to parents/guardians. However, there will be A LOT of positive phone calls coming from the principal's office this year.

What is the difference between Skyward and Canvas?
Canvas is the learning management system that OASD will be using with students to deliver course content, lead online discussions, and give feedback on student work. Canvas is a resource that is available for parents to use to monitor student progress.
We will continue to use Skyward for grading and reporting and parents should continue to utilize that as they have in the past.
Do you know how to access your child's Canvas Account?
Watch this YouTube video. It will take parents/guardians through the steps to set up a parent account and where to find the pairing code from a student's Canvas account that is needed to connect the parent/guardian Canvas account with their child's.
