3rd & 4th Grade Newsletter - Week of Oct 18
Let's Help Put Out the Fire!
The fabulous 3rd and 4th graders are lending a helping hand by collecting cases of bottled water and snacks (protein bars, granola bars, cheese and cracker, etc.) to donate to the firefighters fighting the Bastrop fires. A collection box will be set up Monday morning in the 3rd and 4th grade classroom for all the generous donations.
Unable to donate, that’s ok, take a note card from the envelope on the box and write an encouraging word to help lift the spirit of those on the front lines then drop in the donation box.
All donations are greatly appreciated!!!!
*We did not have a chance to talk about this during class today, but we will have time set aside on Monday to make posters, work on cards, and to talk about the importance of helping others in our community.
*Thank you Mrs. Jennings for suggesting this fabulous community service project! :)
Solar System Project
The project is due next week and I'm really excited to see what everyone created! :)
The 3rd and 4th graders are currently learning about the solar system in Science. For our project, students will take their knowledge of our solar system and create a 3-dimensional model we can hang from the ceiling. The planets should be in the correct order and be relatively proportioned to each other (example: Mars should not be bigger than Jupiter). The sun should be included as part of the solar system. All the planets should be clearly labeled in some way. This is a project meant to not only see how students view the solar system, but to also showcase their creativity. Students are encouraged to use color and get creative while learning.
The project is worth 25 points and is due Wednesday, Oct 21.
*Please do not use pre-made solar system models
*If you go on Pinterest, search Solar System Mobile and you will get loads of ideas!
