Pinehill School News - 20 October
20 October 2021 - Week 1, Term 4
Message from our Principal
Kia ora tatou,
Labour Day on Monday/Teacher Only Day on Tuesday
A very warm welcome back to Term 4 to all of our students and whānau. We have five new students who started their journey at Pinehill School with us on Monday and two New Entrant students who have their class visits on Seesaw this week to meet their teacher and classmates online whilst we remain in Level 3. It was wonderful to be able to welcome all our students back to school on Monday at our very first whole school Level 3 Zoom assembly.
Cancellations
School Production
Given the present COVID Delta level as well as the cabinet announcement on Monday we now know we will be in Level 3 for much longer than some of us anticipated. As you will be aware schools have health and safety guidelines we are to adhere to as we move through the levels. This includes how many children can gather in class/school spaces and how many if any adults can come onsite for events at each level. Unfortunately, given the update from cabinet yesterday as well as the history and time it is taking Auckland to move through the levels, it is with a heavy heart that we will have to cancel our school production. This was not an easy decision to make and as much as we were planning all sorts of things in the background for production to go ahead, this is now a decision we have had to make given our current circumstances and journey ahead.
Photolife
Photolife was booked at the beginning of the year to come onsite next week for sports and music group photos. This is also when we take our Year 6 photo for the signature book they receive at the end of the year. Photolife is not able to come on-site in Level 3 and has no further dates to reschedule. When we are in a position to be onsite in Level 2, our talented teacher and photographer, Marie Homan will take these photos for us. Thank you Marie.
Teacher Only Day
We have a long weekend ahead with Monday 25th October being Labour Day. Tuesday 26th October is our final Teacher Only Day for the year. Teachers will be participating in online professional learning during the Teacher Only Day. This means school is closed and there will be no distance learning on Tuesday. In saying that we are very aware of the unsettled times our community has been through of late and some of our Level 3 students’ parents have only just got back to work onsite. We have decided to keep our bubble classes open on Tuesday 26th October for our students who are existing registered Level 3 students. Our Level 3 students will be able to watch the Home Learning TV station or bring games and/or toys from home to engage with during the day.
Full School Assembly - Wednesday 27th October at 9:00am
To begin our short week next week we would like to start the week together as a school with a full school assembly on Wednesday 27th October at 9:00am. Families are welcome to join us. Please ensure your child’s microphone is on mute so there is no background noise while assembly is running. Details for the zoom assembly are below.

Finally, it is really important we keep a learning routine active during Term 4. Please keep communicating with us the ways we can support your children with this. If your child/ren has completed all the hard pack learning sheets and requires another pack to be delivered please let your child’s teacher know so we can arrange this. If your child/children require technical or learning support online with distance learning, please let your child’s teacher know so we can arrange this. We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging and unprecedented time. As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your tamariki during this time.
