Harrison Park Weekly Update
April 17th, 2023
Attendance and Tardies
Middle School start time - 8:38 (first bell rings)
Elementary start time - 8:53 (first bell rings)
Last week we started our new Middle School Tardy Policy and we have seen a significant decrease in Middle School students getting to class late.
Students will be given two warnings on not being to class on time and after that students will be making phone calls home to notify families that they were late to class. If being late to class continues students will be assigned lunch/recess detention, level 2 referrals, ISS (in school suspension), OSS (out of school suspension) and family meeting.
Thank you for partnering with us in making sure our students are successful in arriving to school on time and getting to class on time.

HeART of Portland
Come and support Harrison Park's own in the HeART of Portland exhibit. A huge shout out to Lilly Sonnenshcein, Alexis Proffitt, Kamiyah Hill, and Ryan Zhen, who will have their art displayed.
This year we celebrate Native American art and culture alongside the Portland Art Museum’s exhibitions Dakota Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe and Jeffrey Gibson: They Come From Fire. PPS visual arts students across the district responded to this exhibition through a collaborative project. This project, in addition to one separate representative piece of work from each school, will be displayed in Portland Art Museum’s Miller Gallery from April 11th through April 23rd.
PPS performing arts students will showcase their talents as well for the HeART of Portland Opening Reception on Tuesday, April 11th at 6:30 PM. Additionally, this will be the debut performance of the first-ever PPS Latinx Affinity Community Choir and the public launch of our Master Arts Education Plan. This event and all exhibitions at the museum are free to all PPS students and families.
Join us in celebrating students in the arts!

Drop off and Pick up
Please be mindful of our student crossing guards when using the parking lot.
Students need to be dropped off at the curb and make every effort to exit curbside.
Please make an effort to utilize the crosswalk near the 1st-3rd grade entrance.
Avoid parking in driveways, bus zone and blocking others in.
Please arrange for where your children will be picked up - a suggestion is all of your children meet in the youngest child's exit location.
We are noticing long delays to turn onto Division, please be mindful of this and patient as others pick/drop off their children.
