Happy New Year! Welcome 2020!!
CMS Families,
I can't believe we are in January. The Fall semester was a great one and we are in full swing. You should be receiving information from counselors about registration for next year. The Spring gets to be super busy so make sure you take some time and read all the information below and mark your calendars!
Please take a look at your child's grades on PSS. If you see your child is NOT passing CBA's or UC's that is an indication they need more help. Students should be staying after school for any grade below a 70 and below an 85 for pre-ap and high school credit classes. It is important for our students to master the content so they are prepared for the next grade level and beyond. All teachers are available during the week to provide more help.
Every year our district sends out a community survey. Please take some time and complete the survey. We do look at the survey and create a plan based on your feedback. https://survey.k12insight.com/survey.aspx?k=RRsQRUYWsQRTsPsPsP&lang=0&data=&fbclid=IwAR2VWlv5TBgBjzcAn4ga3speLPSXBjpe8ADMtfQKVn3SfwY341OE3PpBr_U.
Please consider helping CMS PTA with concessions. This is PTA's biggest fundraiser and the money they earn goes directly back to our students and teachers. Thank you for helping!

The CMS PTA is registered with Amazon Smile as a non-profit and they donate .5% of each purchase when customer select our organization on their Amazon Smile Account. Please help spread the word by sharing on social media if you can. Below is the link.
Please remember about our FREE Math program called Dreambox. This is a GREAT opportunity to fill in the gaps and to get ahead. We are having a new SPRING Dreambox Challenge so take a look at the flyer before for more details.

School Report Card
Below you will find a copy of the State of Texas 2018–19 School Report Card for Chapa Middle School. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. It is to be sent to the parent or guardian of every child enrolled in a Texas public school. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
In addition, as part of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), Federal Report Cards for the state, the district, and each of the district’s campuses are now available on the district’s website or directly at: https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/frc/2019/srch.html.
For any additional questions, feel free to contact me or go to the Hays CISD Accountability website at: https://www.hayscisd.net/site/Default.aspx?PageID=309.
I do want to highlight that we had 2 distinctions. We received a distinction in Academic Growth and Closing the Gaps. Our faculty and staff are continuously working to ensure all students are making progress and ready for the next grade level. We appreciate your help!
Dreambox Spring Challenge
This is a FREE math program that is helpful for all students. It is super helpful to help with any gaps and to help get them ahead. If you have any questions, please ask your child's math teacher.
See below for our Spring Dreambox Challenge!!! Give them something to do when the kids say "I'm bored!"
