Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!

We suddenly find ourselves with just six school days remaining in the 2021-22 school year! While there are only a few days left, there is lots of fun and excitement planned! For our Kindergarten friends, the last day of school is this coming Tuesday, June 14. We are so proud of all that our Kindergarten students have accomplished in their first year at the Hansen, and we wish all of our Kindergarten students and families a safe, happy, and enjoyable summer!

Please enjoy some of this weeks' Hansen highlights through the pictures below...

Creating A Culture of Achievement, Equity, Inspiration, and Joy!

5th Grade Unity Day!

Today, Hansen 5th graders joined their Grade 5 peers from across the district, coming together for the first time as a 6th grade class at the Galvin Middle School as part of Unity Day! Students enjoyed meeting Galvin staff and students, participating in games and team-building activities, and seeing the building. A great day!

Hansen School Picnic - June 15th!

On Wednesday, June 15th, from 5-8 PM at the Hansen, celebrate the end of another great year with fun, prize winning contests led by DJ Balthazar, silly photos in the photobooth, face painting by Color Me Funky, or a front seat view from a real Canton Fire Truck!

Try your luck at being selected the raffle winner of a new XBox or one of many other prizes like a free week for your family at Ponkapoag Civic, a $50 gift card to Elite Health & Fitness, 1 of 3 Katie Wood's children's journals (A Simple Seed of Growth, Gratitude, & Giggles), fun games and puzzles! Every non-perishable food donation earns you another chance at the raffle prizes!

Bring your dinner or buy yummy treats at one of three food trucks: Montilio's Pizzeria, the Chubby Chickpea, or Alden Park'ed. Enjoy dessert and snacks provided by CAPT with ice cream from our favorite Mike & Ants ice cream truck, cotton candy, & popcorn.

All are invited, and we hope to see you there!

Good Luck to our Girls on The Run!

Tomorrow, the Hansen Girls on the Run group is scheduled to participate in their culminating 5K race. Good luck to all of our runners, you are awesome and will do great!

5th Grade Clap-Out : June 21

As in years past, we are excited to once again send our 5th grade students out with a 'Clap-Out' on the last day of school, June 21. This is a half day, and we invite families of fifth graders to meet on the front blacktop, next to the front playground, to greet their students as they leave the Hansen School as elementary students for the last time.

Families are welcome to arrive around 11:30, and students will be exiting out the side doors off of the blacktop around 11:45. We are excited to celebrate our Grade 5 students and congratulations for all that you have accomplished during your elementary school years. We know you will continue to do great things in middle school!

Garden Club

The Garden Club NEEDS volunteers to do the final clean up and set up of the garden. They would like as many hands on Monday; 3:00 - whenever, to help remove dirt, install weed block, cover with wood chips, and then install new raised beds. This is close to being completed so that the kids can take over and plant for the summer. Please consider helping, even if for just an hour!

Below is a link to helping care for the garden over the summer. If you know you can take a day this summer it would be great!

Important Music Update for Current Grade 4 Students

Please take a moment to review this message, regarding in-school Music options for next year's Grade 5 students. Exciting stuff!

Reminder: Summer Reading Information

Please take a moment to review the note below from Pre-K-5 Humanities Coordinator, Mrs. Abrams, with information regarding summer reading.

Hi Canton families,

Here you will find a letter that explains our Elementary Summer Reading Program. Our program works in conjunction with the program offered through the Canton Public Library.

Also, here is a video that teachers will share with students to remind them about the importance of summer reading and to tell them about some of the fun happening this summer at the Canton Public Library.

If you are looking for book suggestions, please reach out to the wonderful librarians who are excited to recommend some of their favorite books by age group. Our goal is for families to read as much as they can, whenever they can, and wherever they can!

We can't wait to hear all about your summer reading plans!

Jackie Abrams

Pre-K-5 Humanities Coordinator

IMPORTANT REMINDER: 2022 - 2023 Hansen School Hours

Next year, student drop off will begin at 8:50, with classes starting at 9:10 a.m. Student dismissal will be 3:25 p.m.

Please reach out with any questions!
