Brockport High School
Principal's Newsletter September 8, 2017
Welcome Back!
Wow, what a week it has been. After Freshman Orientation and Open House last week, it has been great having a building full of students and staff again after the summer months. Classes have been in full swing, there's been a slew of activities after school, and the fall athletic competitions are well under way. We have a series of student assemblies next week during advisement periods to get word out to students about several initiatives this year. Additionally, we'll be sending information out through Twitter @BrockportHS and through this newsletter.
If you have issues accessing or need to update contact information in the Campus Portal, please contact our in-house tech support, Michael Letta, at email: michael.letta@bcs1.org - phone (585)637-1878.
Thank you for coming to our Open House event last week; we had a huge number of attendees compared to other years. To be honest, it had a lot to do with food trucks out front and students being able to access their schedules and meet teachers in a casual format throughout the evening. We heard from lots of you that night and then through follow up emails how much it was appreciated - thank you for the feedback!

Lunch on the Lawn!
Well, even with a little rain today, students were still able to get outside and enjoy a freeze pop, some face painting, good music, some games, and watch their assistant principals take a pie to the face. (Yes, you read that right!) Thanks so much to our PBIS committee and PTSA for putting together all the logistics to make the lunch a success!
Parking Issues
A couple of update for parents and students to be aware of on this front.
First, we have students who are asking to be able to drive to their WEMOCO program for either the morning or afternoon sessions. Unfortunately, we have been informed by WEMOCO administration that due to their capital project, they have no ability to accommodate student parking. What does that mean for BHS students? We have two buses that transport students from here to there and back for both the morning and afternoon sessions that they'll have to ride for the foreseeable future. If and when that changes, we will let you know ASAP.
Students who plan to drive and park a vehicle on our campus still have several opportunities to attend the safe driving seminar that is new this year. On September 14th (next Thursday) there are opportunities at 2:15 and 3:15 in the LGI to attend the mandatory session. Additionally, there will be sessions held during Advisement on September 19th and 21st, also in the LGI. Students will not be given a parking tag if they have not attended one of these sessions. Security will be checking cars in our lot starting on September 25th to make sure they are tagged and students are following the process for this year. Please encourage your son or daughter to attend one of the sessions and have their paperwork in order. They can fill out a form ahead of time by accessing the document found at this link on our web page.
