We have finally finished adapting the children’s book, “Aida” into play format. That being said, we will have tryouts for speaking parts on Monday, November 5th, Tuesday November 6th, and Wednesday November 7th, during lunch recess. Speaking parts will include main characters who will appear on stage, as well as narrators, who will not appear on stage. If you have a strong but shy “stage reader”, this may just be the part for them. If your child would like to participate in a “non-speaking” way, we have opportunities for them such as: projectionists, lighting, stage crew, props, scenery, costuming, etc.
The parts of the script that will be used for tryouts can be found on our canvas page (by 4:00 on Oct. 31st). Please help your child select their part, and work with them on the memorizing the script, voice inflection and staging.Math
We are focusing on ratios. Here is a link to a fun game that deals with ratios.

As a 6th grade team we have cut back on the amount of homework we send as per instructed by the district office. The only thing that was kept was work completion and home reading logs which were also approved by the principal and the district. As a reminder, the reading log is one-third of your child's reading grade. A reading log is due on Monday of each week and is equivalent to 100 points weekly. As you can see, missed reading logs can accumulate quickly. Reading is vital to your child's success in every subject, especially as they prepare to move on to junior high next year. We would appreciate you making home reading a priority with your child by having a specific time and place for them to complete their reading log. We appreciate all you do and all the support you give us!
