Benito Pablo Juárez García, was a Mexican lawyer and politician of Zapotec origin from Oaxaca who served as the president of Mexico for five terms: 1858–1861. Born on March 21, 1806, in San Pablo Guelatao, Oaxaca, Mexico. He was one of the leaders for the liberal movement to bring the church and the wealthy class under goverment rule.

Benito Juarez is undoubtedly one of the most important and revered figures in Mexican history. Was a Mexican statesman and resistance leader against the French. After defeating the Austrian would-be emperor Maximilian, Juárez instituted numerous liberal reforms as president.
