Cyclone Central Friday eFolder
December 7, 2018
Dear Center Families:
Along with creating this new space for our students, our Library Renovation Team has also worked hard to develop a student-centered plan for introducing our children to this new and exciting space. Over the past month, our 4th and 5th graders were introduced to the space through a video and introductory exploration experience. They have also provided our team with valuable feedback and ideas for enhancements. After winter break, classroom teachers and our library staff will lead kindergarten through 3rd grade students through this same introductory experience. By the end of the third quarter, all students will be on board, and our library special will transform into a blend of book exchange time and time to explore our Cyclone Creation Station.
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who helped to bring this vision to life within our school! This project has been an outstanding way to model the design process, promote community collaboration, and embrace creative thinking. We look forward to all of the possibilities!
With much gratitude and excitement,
Kate Rateno

RAPTOR Visit Management System Reminder - Begins Dec. 10th
Mayfield City Schools continues to make safety our number one priority. This school year, our front entrance was redesigned, interior cameras have been added, and we now have access to a new visitor management system. Beginning December 10th, all visitors will be asked to present their state or government picture ID. A badge containing the visitor’s name, picture, date, and the reason for the visit will be printed, and the visitor will be instructed to wear the badge throughout his or her visit. Please click on this link for more information (District Announcement). We understand that this change will be an adjustment for many, and we ask for your patience as we all become familiar with these new practices. Thank you in advance for helping us to promote a safe environment for our students and staff.

Please know that our staff members are very appreciative of any cards, gifts, or notes of cheer that may be given to them, but this is not necessary. Spending our days interacting and learning with your children is a valued gift to us all! If a gift is selected, please know that all staff members are required to follow the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators. In accordance with this code, educators may not accept gifts valuing more than $25.
