Academy of the Arts at Bransom
September 5-8, 2017 (School Days 11-14)
A Note From Your Principal
I also want to say a huge thanks for those who have dropped off items for the Hurricane Harvey relief. We appreciate your efforts and of course the recipients will as well. Our students will also benefit because they will see our school family pulling together to make a difference for those in need. We will continue to collect as long as there is a need we can fill.
On Friday, I sent a link to our ENCORE CLUBS for the fall. I hope you were able to make some decisions about your child's participation. Today, we will send a hard copy of the form home with each child. We would like for every child to participate in a club; however, space is limited to the physical space and adult leadership available. Therefore, if there is more interest than space, we will use a lottery system to determine membership for the students who return their form on Wednesday. Club leaders will contact members as soon as membership is determined. Thanks for your patience during this time.
I am so excited to remind you that our Grandparents' Day celebration is on the calendar. Next Friday, September 15 during the lunch hours we are inviting all grandparents to join their grandchildren for lunch and enjoy the Scholastic Book Fair. We are working on the ever important photo opportunity as well. This is always a fun time to see familiar faces and meet new ones as well. While grandparents are welcome to bring a lunch for their grandchild(ren) they are also welcome to eat from our cafeteria. I printed letter and order form will be sent home with students but an electronic copy is also attached here.
Speaking of the Scholastic Book Fair, next week is an important week for our librarian. Mrs. Cech will be hosting the book fair. This link will give you a preview of books that are available for purchase. This is an opportunity for families to stock up on books for their home library as well as gift books to our teachers. Reading is central to our students' success in all subjects so finding ways to support the students and teachers is crucial. This is a good one.
In closing I want to invite parents whose child(ren) participated in the Summer Reading Program and turned in their paperwork to a morning assembly on Friday, September 8 at 7:30AM in the gym to acknowledge their efforts. Mrs. Cech has already invited parents but I wanted to reiterate our desire for your presence. We will celebrate reading and its importance to our students success now and for always.
Thank you, Parents, for all that you are doing at home to help instill a love for reading and teaching your child that his/her attention to reading progress is so important. Don't forget to read EVERYDAY in some way or fashion with your child. It will make a difference.
Mrs. Burchfield
