Rockville Elementary students had a special treat to welcome them back from Spring Break on Monday, April 1. Members of the “K9 Crew Trick Dogs” canine thrill show performed in the afternoon.
Tony and Sara Hoard along with Mowgli, Sprocket, Z-Bug and Crush California entertained the students with their frisbee, tennis ball and stunt tricks. Their stunt tricks included jumping over a high bar, jumping through hoops and even jumping over students. Tony was a semi-finalist on the TV show “America’s Got Talent” with his performing canines. The “K9 Crew” has also performed with the Indianapolis Symphony, Good Morning America, Animal Planet along with NBA, MLB, NFL and college teams.
“Each dog has a special goal and reward that they work on,” said Tony. “That’s how you need to be in school. You need to work towards your goals and keep working to set them higher.”
For a special trick, three students were selected to assist in being part of a jumping stunt. These students, Matthew Fox, Kailey Seay and Seth Adams went down on their hands and knees so that one of the dogs could jump over them after jumping off of Tony’s back.

FLAT STANLEY TRAVELS WITH RES STUDENTS
Flat Stanley joined students in Mrs. Sherri Paxton’s first grade class at Rockville Elementary over spring break. Each student was asked to take a photo of their daily adventures with Stanley and to write a sentence or two about their adventure. It didn’t matter if the student stayed close to home or travelled somewhere with their family.
During the break, Stanley traveled to Florida, St. Louis as well as the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. He also stayed in Parke County and helped with cattle chores, ate ice cream and watched lots of basketball. Stanley didn't like the snow storm!
At the end of spring break, the students shared their journals with their classmates. They were also asked to post pictures on Facebook and/or email them to Mrs. Paxton so that the class could enjoy everyone’s spring break adventures.
RES CHARACTER TRAIT WINNERS
Each month, Rockville Elementary celebrates a character trait. For the month of March, the character trait was patience. Each classroom selected a student that demonstrated the trait of patience throughout the month.
