Winter Concert

Our winter concert will be starring our Kindergarten and our First Grade students as well as our chorus. The concert will be Friday December 17th at 1:30. Doors will open at 1:15. You will see in your Tuesday Take home an early dismissal permission slip if your child is either in one of the performers or a sibling. Many times parents want to take their children home after the concert. (about 45 minutes early) This leads to long lines and chaos in the office and in classrooms especially those classrooms that are not performing. In order to alleviate some of the chaos, please fill out and turn in the form requesting your child to go home after the concert. (Not after they perform...after the ENTIRE concert is over) Please read the notice included in your Tuesday Take Home folder if your child is in K or 1 or in chorus.

We are hoping that by having three concerts this year and only 2 grade levels performing, we have a smaller crowd that is able to be spread out a little easier. We are asking that you limit the amount of people you bring to the show to help us with this. If we can limit to 2 adult guests per child that would be helpful. Our seating will be 3 feet apart, which means less seats in the gym. Masks will be required on all people over 2 years old.

We are going to try to Live Stream the concert on Friday so you can enjoy from home. More information on this to come.

Breakfast Change for 2022

After Winter Break, Breakfast will once again be served in the morning, before the bell. We will NOT be sending them home at the end of the day. Children can come to school starting at 8:10 to eat breakfast. Breakfast ends at 8:25. Students should come to the front doors of the school to eat.

Lunchtime Beverages

Children should not be bringing cans of pop (or do you say soda?) to school for lunch. Juice boxes or pouches, water or milk are all fine. Cans of pop are not healthy and should not be brought to school. We have also noticed some students bringing in glass bottles of cola. This is dangerous and could injure someone if dropped. Please think about another item for your child to drink at lunch.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Please do not drop students off on the opposite curb from where school is and walking them across, especially on the 2nd/3rd grade doors. and the 4/5 grade doors. This holds up the line, but is also dangerous. I see it happen constantly and while we'd like to think that drivers are being careful when they drive around our school, it isn't always the case. We don't want your child to be in a tragic accident.

If you are picking students up at the K/1 doors, please DO NOT park and block the driveway and please DO NOT park in the driveway leading to the parking lot of St Germaine. That is against fire code. You may park in one of the parking spots in the lot. I come out those doors and get everything moving smoothly and then move on to another area and then we have problems again at the K/1 doors. Please follow the rules whether I am there or not.

Please do not bring pets to pick up or drop off your child. We have children with allergies, but we have also had instances where the dogs have gotten loose and really caused problems. I love my dog too, but please leave them at home.

Please note the drop off locations and where you are allowed to park and get out of your car.

CoVid News

Our numbers are going up. I am not surprised as I think it may be due to being out of town or seeing extended family over Thanksgiving. Our numbers are up, but for 1 positive case, we have 2-3 other phone calls that we need to make for close contacts. Those children have to stay home also. Depending on the number of cases in a classroom, we may have to quarantine an entire classroom, so please if your child is not vaccinated, please make sure you are careful with who you are interacting with.

Families will be notified if their child is found to have been in close contact with a CoVid positive case at school. If your child is found to be a close contact then they will have to quarantine for a period of time. More information will be given to you regarding your particular circumstances. Students may also be quarantined due to showing symptoms.

If your child has been FULLY VACCINATED (meaning its been at least 2 weeks after the second dose of the vaccine) please let us know and your child will not have to quarantine. If you are willing to let us know ahead of time, please call Mrs Malloy or upload your child's vaccination record on to Skyward. You can call the office if you need help with this.

If your child is suspected of having CoVid or has symptoms that are associated with CoVid we can only accept a real time PCR test. Not an Antigen or Rapid test due to false positive and negative results.

When students are quarantined, they will be given work for someone to pick up in the foyer of school. Students will get in invitation to a Homework Help Google Classroom to log on between 3:30 and 4:30 to get assistance from a Hannum staff member for work that they are struggling with. They just need to log on during that time and someone will be available to help them while they are quarantining.

SHIELD Illinois

FYI.... We have a new testing day. Hannum will now test on Tuesdays.

Please check out the button below for information on opting in to having your child proactively tested for Covid 19.

The SHIELD Illinois program is a quick, simple, and non-invasive COVID-19 screening test. Students that have opted-in to the program will provide a small amount of saliva that is tested at a professional lab. Results of the test are then provided to families and our school district within the days following. The program offers students the opportunity to reduce or waive quarantine requirements in the event of close contact with a positive case or if the student demonstrates symptoms. You can opt-in to the program at any time by accessing Online Forms in Skyward Family Access. More information about the SHIELD Illinois program can be found at: d123.org/shield-illinois-testing-program

It now looks like depending on when you signed your child up, they may not be able to test until the following week.

Our presenter for tonights Scheduled Parent University had to cancel. This presentation will be rescheduled.
