On the ranch most cowboys watched over and protected the cattle as they grazed on the range.Originally the cattle watched over by the cowboys were called Texas Longhorns . The cowboys slept in bunkhouses the bunkhouse was not very comfortable.Rows of bunks stood along the walls. Pegs on the wall held clothing and other equipment.

Cowboys Gear

A cowboy wears a hat, a bandana, chaps, boots,and spurs. A cowboy uses a rope to catch and herd cattle without these things you can't be a cowboy.

Early cowboys

In the year 1611 Spain brought the first cattle to the Jamestown colony in Virginia. The early cowboys were frontiersmen who had moved to the west to learned many of the skills of roping and herding from Mexican cowboys in Texas.
