Armstrong Activities/ Athletics Update
Dear Robbinsdale Area Students and Activities/Athletic Community,
As this fall continues to change, we are fortunate to now be offering a full menu of fall sports for Robbinsdale Area School (RAS) students with the MSHSL recently bringing back football and volleyball. I am reaching out to the RAS community and student body to address attendance at fall events. The Minnesota State High School League and Minnesota Department of Health are NOT allowing spectators at indoor sporting events and have limited attendance to attend varsity football games.
We apologize that we will not be able to have students and the community attend any of our football or volleyball games, home or away, due to safety guidelines provided by MDH and the MSHSL. Please note: NO tailgating or viewing parties are allowed on campus. Given our current situation I hope the community understands this perspective, we want a safe experience for our students and the opportunities to participate to continue.
For football we are limited to 125 tickets per game. These 125 tickets will be sold to parents of participants. Please understand not everyone who wants to attend these games will be able to. No tickets will be sold at the football games and no passes will be honored this year.
Below are examples of attendance and sport access across the fall sports.
1. Cross Country parent and student spectators are limited to two in attendance, after an initial no attendance policy.
2. Girls Swimming and Diving has no fans/parents attending meets. Live streamed on the team Facebook page.
3. Girls Tennis adjusted their spectator experience to outside the facility and 12 feet from the fence.
4. Volleyball is not permitted to have any students or parents in attendance. We are going to provide Live streamed (that information will be released soon)
5. Varsity Soccer game attendance is also limited to 150 total spectators (home).
6. Varsity Football is limited to 125 spectators. Our first game will be live on CCX – Channel 12 and we will send out links to live streams of other games.
7. Fine Arts- will be preparing to live stream all their events as no spectators are permitted inside our building.
As disappointing as all of this is, it is exciting after six months of this pandemic that all our fall student athletes have a chance to play the sports they love and have trained hard for this past summer.
We are asking for your help. First, with patience and understanding. Please realize the situation we are in we are complying with state mandates. Second, please help us get our fall sports teams to the end of their seasons without disruption. You can help by wearing your masks, social distancing and not being present on campus during any volleyball or football games.
New Career and College Advisor!
I'm Marquel Curtis. Former Falcon! I graduated from Armstrong in 2011. After high school, I attended the University of Tulsa on a basketball scholarship. College was some of the best years of my life! Which is why I'm extremely excited to be working at Armstrong! Where it all started for me!
I'm the new College and Career Advisor. I'll be helping students figure out where to start the college process and everything dealing with the college application process. The college process can be overwhelming, but I have great knowledge and experience with this process. I'll be able to help guide you along the way and answer any questions! Don't be afraid to ask for help! That's what staff is for! I look forward to working with all of you!
