Points of Pride
August 26, 2018
Instructional Focus:
As we identify which students should be progress monitored (tier 2) and which will be with Kristy (tier 3), it is absolutely essential to remember the following points:
- This is for our students who are needing Tier 2 or Tier 3 support. Remember if they are Tier 3, then they need Tier 2 support as well. Tier 3 support happens with the specialist and/or resource teachers. Tier 2 support occurs in the classroom. This double dip is essential in helping these struggling students.
- During this first MTSS meeting, we will be helping you identify where the struggle could be with these students, and/or which diagnostic should be given. After collecting this information, we can develop an intentional and meaningful intervention plan.
- If you are concerned about a student, and feel that they may need a referral to the Intervention Team, you can find a packet in the Work Room near Bertha (the massive copier), or here is the electronic version. Again, the Intervention Team has not started meeting yet (probably won't for a couple weeks), but you could start keeping track of intervention data. If you have talked with last year's teacher and they said that they have already started the paperwork, please reach out to me, and I will share the packet with you. This way instead of starting from scratch, you can add onto what they have already completed.
To Do List:
- Substitute Accommodations are due 9/1
- Conference Sign Up due 9/1
- SMART Goal form due 8/30, with students listed in appropriate levels; GLC's should be submitting these in the Google Classroom-remember to use the sample I gave you
- If you have not already watched the Discrimination Video with your class, these needs to be done ASAP with an email sent to Robert confirming you watched it
- We still have a couple people that have not turned in their signature page in the Staff Handbook (this should be done by all staff.
