Wood Library Exploratorium News
December 2015
Exploratorium Updates
At the beginning of November, the library received new computer tables and chairs. What a difference they make! We had enough funds from book fair to buy two more collaborative chairs. We hope to have them in our collaborative area sometime in January.
Think Tank Updates
Think Tank materials are available all day in the collaborative area of the library exploratorium. Students can come in and try their hand at origami, create with legos, build something with buttons, create something with the materials available. There will still be task specific think tanks coming up after school.
On a sadder note, our brand new 3D printer has been having some issues and will be going back to MakerBot Industries to get fixed. All 3D printing will be suspended until it returns. However, it's a great time for your student to create something to print using TinkerCad or SketchUp. It needs to be saved in a .stl file. These files can be put on a jump drive or e-mailed to Ms. Jennings. As soon as it returns, the library will start printing out students' creations.
287 Students Visited the Library During November!
Elf on the Shelf Contest is Coming
Langston, our library elf, will be back in our library stacks checking out some of our great books. Starting Monday, December 14th, come by the library and see what he's reading. Write down the title of the book and put it in the Elf on the Shelf Contest box. We will draw several winners each day to get a prize out of our prize box. Good Luck!
73 Classes came to the library during the month of November!
Hour of Code - Week of December 7th
The Library Exploratorium will be one of the sites on our campus hosting hour of code. If students want to learn about coding and go through online tutorials, students can come before and after school and complete the tutorials.

App of the Month - PicCollage
Pic Collage is a great app tool that allows you to create a multi-media collage. Simply drag and drop pictures and videos. You can add stickers, backgrounds and has many templates. Pic Collage could jazz up your pictures and videos or even jazz up your students' projects. It's free and available for Apple and Android products.
