Together as a family we have created our mission statement. This will be our guide in creating our vision for all our stakeholders. This mission statement will give us clarity and focus in reaching our goals. This will be our flight path as we strive to create a culture that is conducive to student success.

How are your 10,000 hours going?
Two weeks ago we had our first Destination Roberts Meet ’n’ Greet. The excitement in the room was so invigorating. This last week of school I want you to enjoy your work family and for some of you, the last days of college. This summer I want to challenge you with getting rest and with continuing a growth mindset. Did you know Michael Jordan was not the best athlete in his family? It was not until Jordan did not make the varsity team his sophomore year in high school that he decided to turn it up about ten notches and become one of the hardest working athletes of his generation. We prefer to think of Jordan as a born genius rather than a hard working individual who created his own pathway. Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Outliers believes that it takes 10,000 hours to be truly great at something. 10,000 hours means 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year for 10 years. To reach this mastery, you would have to be deliberate about your practice and learning. How are your 10,000 hours going? I want to challenge you to develop new skills. This summer seek out opportunities for professional development. Professional development will help fuel your innovative passion to create the optimal learning environment for your students. You can also read a book that challenges your method of practice. The pathway to be a master teacher will only happen if we are deliberately practicing and intent on growing as a teacher.
