TAWANKA TIMES

Dangers of "Frozen" Ponds

With the frigid temperatures we have been experiencing we just want to remind you to please speak with your children about the dangers of walking or playing on ponds that they think look frozen.

We have heard of a few incidents in the past week of kids walking on ponds that are not solid. We just want everyone to be safe!

Physical Education

Tawanka students are combining team building and team sports in the gym. They are building goals out of hula hoops and using them for crab soccer goals.

Read to Succeed

Read to Succeed is an incentive to get more students to read daily. The students are asked to read every day during the months of January and February, totaling 6 hours. They will receive a certificate and a free ticket to Six Flags, Great Adventure Amusement Park in New Jersey, upon completion. The students were given reading logs for parents to sign. The dead line to return the logs to their teachers is Friday, February 22, 2019.

Winter Recess

With the temperatures getting colder, we just want to remind you that the kids do go outside for recess as long as the "feels like" temps are above 20 degrees. Please make sure the kids come to school with the appropriate coat, hats, and gloves.

Cold and Flu Season

Just a friendly reminder about when children can return to school after an illness.

We love to see the kids share...but not their germs.
