Allstars News Week of August 23, 2021
Welcoming our Students with Patience, Flexibility & Grace!
I am pleased to inform you that the first week of school and the return to in-person learning have been a great success!! Students were engaged and re-introduced to routines, procedures, safety guidelines and a foundational focus on literacy stills across content areas.
Thank you for supporting our Pick-up and Drop-off safety guidelines! Your collaboration is so important as we work as a team in the best interest of all students.
We will begin out week focusing on our Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) approach schoolwide. Arovista is headed towards its 10th year of PBIS implementation!!
Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior.
With PBIS, schools teach kids about behavior expectations and strategies.
The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment

COVID-19 Safety Measures & Attendance
We continue to be mindful that the COVID-19 virus continues to be present in our community, the flu season is around the corner, and that state and local health and safety requirements continue to remain in effect.
In an effort to minimize the spread of any illness please refer to the following guidelines as you consider whether to send your child to school: Brea Olinda Unified School District Guidelines for General Illness: When To Keep Your Child Out of School. If your child(ren) has been exposed to COVID and determined to have been a close contact, please DO NOT send them to school until speaking with the office staff or Dr. Martinez and obtaining appropriate clearance and direction.
More specifically, if your child experiences any cold or flu-like symptoms it is recommended that you assess your child's health and ability to go to school based on guidelines from the Orange County Health Care Agency as they may be symptoms of a COVID-19 infection. Those guidelines can be found here: Student Symptom Decision Tree.
Should your child be absent due to illness, rest assured that site administrators and teachers will work with you and your child to provide the work necessary to remain on-track academically. Absences due to any illness will be marked as excused.
Keeping our school communities safe and healthy requires all of us to do our part. Thank you for your partnership with us as we work together in the best interests of all children in the Brea Olinda Unified School District.
Reminders:
Breakfast, Lunch, & Water
ALL students have access to a FREE breakfast or lunch provided by the school. Students may bring their own snacks and lunch or visit the Cafeteria at recess and lunch for a free meal. We have shut off our drinking fountains for safety reasons but suggest sending your child with a refillable bottle of water.
Also, we made some adjustment during lunch to allow students more room while eating. We will regularly use our outside seating moving forward. This will allow less students to sit at a table in order to provide more personal space.
Aeries Parent Portal & Data Confirmation
Parents need to log into the Aeries Parent Portal to complete the 2021-2022 school year Data Confirmation. Please print out the student emergency card and return it to your student’s teacher on the first day of school. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Front Office.
Physical Education (PE)
Our students participate in PE class on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 50 minutes. Please make sure students are wearing appropriate clothing for physical activity, including comfortable shoes.
Band & Orchestra is Back! As of September 2, 2021 4-6th grade students interested in playing music will have that opportunity. More information to come about signing up your child or children.
