Hooch Happenings
January 13, 2023
Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
Happy 2023!! Spring semester has started off very smoothly (except for yesterday's storm event) and hard to believe that we will be going into week 3. As I often do at the start of each semester, I just wanted to provide a few reminders and ask that you reinforce them with your student(s):
- 10 and 10 rule - unless an emergency situation, students are to remain in the classroom and not request a pass the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class.
- Cell phone pockets - Students are requested to place their cell phones in the school provided pockets during the instructional period until the teacher has given the O.K. to students to retrieve and use (no cellphones in the hallways when leaving a classroom with a pass).
- Dress Code - Review dress code guidelines as needed and support the motto of "dress for success".
As always, I appreciates your ongoing support of Chattahoochee and our staff as we all have a role in carrying on the TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE!
Dr. Mike Todd
Principal
Happy New Year! January is a month for new beginnings. This is a good time to review our attendance theme and recommit to our mission of…
Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.
Showing up to school daily provides the opportunity to:
● Build Routines
● Increase Engagement
● Provide Access to resources
● Support Learning
Start the year off with resolutions of arriving to school on time daily, engaging with one new friend, speaking with a teacher before having a failing grade, contributing to class discussions, and parents begin logging into Infinite Campus to check attendance and grades. This action-oriented start to the second semester will garner great success by May. If you have any questions or need support for this new journey, feel free to reach out to our School Social Worker, Mrs. McClung at mcclunga1@fultonschools.org or 470-254-7557.
Media Center News
Welcome to 2023. If your student has a laptop with a physical damage (cracked screen, missing keys, damaged charger, etc.), please have your student bring his/her laptop to the media center during his/her lunch periods for further assistance no later than 1/31/2023 to avoid charges.
Counseling Corner
If your student did not pass a class in Fall 2022, please reach out to your student’s School Counselor to discuss options of how to recover this credit. Direct contact information can be found at https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/20639.
Senior Midyear Reports/Transcripts:
Seniors who are in need of mid-year grades for any college must submit a Midyear transcript request in Naviance, and we will begin processing those requests on January 17th. Do not worry if your college has an earlier date - high schools across the country finish their first term at different times, and colleges expect that.
Upcoming Presentations and Events:

YouScience is a career interest inventory that assists students in discovering their natural strengths, describing themselves, and figuring out what they want to do after high school and where they fit in the work and career world. Be sure to ask your student to show you their YouScience results and discuss them at home!

Cafe Serves Farm Fresh Tomatoes at Lunch all January
For the entire month of January, juicy, farm fresh tomatoes served at lunch are part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Harvest of the Month Program. These locally grown tomatoes are heading straight from a family farm to your plate. Because it’s grown closer to home it helps support our local farmers and takes less fuel to get it to our café. Not only are these locally grown tomatoes good for the environment, but also, tomatoes are great for your body, being an excellent source of vitamin A! Did you know: Georgia is a top product of fresh market tomatoes?! Botanically, the tomato is a fruit, but in cooking it is considered a vegetable. Try the freshly harvested tomatoes in your signature side salads this January!
