Celebration of Growth!
Leadership is soooo excited to offer a WATER FIELD DAY for all students that have shown growth on their EOY assessments. We will follow the same schedule that the students had for the PTEG water day. Students will be able to have a water balloon dodge ball game, bucket race, sponge race, Kona Ice and much more. Here is what we need from you: ADVERTISE IT! Let your students know if they work hard, take their time (No rushing), stay focused, and do their best we know they will show growth! Those who show growth get to participate. WE WANT 100% PARTICIPATION! Please keep encouraging them until they take their tests. Put it in your newsletters, talk it up! Mark your calendars May 22nd will be the day AND they will be able to be out of uniform and WET!

Spring After School Clubs
All club counselors should have received an Employee Action Form from Jessica to be paid. Please make sure to complete those as soon as possible to ensure your payment on 4/29. If you did not receive one, please reach out to Jessica at jhill@pinellasprep.org.

Policy Updates
This week the Board of Directors approved the following policy updates:
(C.4.1.6) Chaperones
Chaperones for field trips must follow the volunteer guidelines found within the policies of PPA, Inc. Chaperones must be registered with the school before attending the field trip. All chaperones must be provided with a detailed list of the students they are responsible for, emergency contact information to reach the teacher in charge, and the student's parents if the need arises. All chaperones must ride the PPA provided transportation to and from the field trip.
(C.4.3) Special Request to Pick Students Up From a Field Trip
A special request must be submitted to the Principal at least 21 days prior to the field trip in order for a parent to pick their student up from a field trip location. Special requests will only be made for those field trips that exceed 75 miles from PPA and students can safely exit the field trip and be relocated with their parent or guardian. A liability waiver must be signed for any parent to pick up their student from a field trip with special permission.
(B.1.2) Staff Behavior Committee
The behavior committee will review the school’s behavior policy, matrix, and consequences annually and advise the Principal on necessary changes to these documents. The behavior committee shall also serve as an appeal board when a parent wishes to appeal a referral or decision made by the administration, as outlined in policy C.5.13. The committee shall be comprised of at least seven members in addition to the Assistant Principal. In addition, a staff member shall be appointed as chair, who shall not be the Principal or Assistant Principal. At the discretion of the Principal and/or Board of Directors, Chairman or a Board Member (Board Chairman or Board Liaison) may participate in Staff Behavioral Committee Meetings.
(C.5.5.4) Behavior Committee Meeting
After receiving a request and deciding not to overturn the referral personally, the Assistant Principal will coordinate a behavior committee meeting, making an effort to schedule the meeting at a convenient time for all involved, including the parent/guardian who requested the appeal. At the discretion of the Principal and/or Board Chairman a Board Member (Board Chairman or Board Liaison) may participate in the appeal process.
