Blaze Bulletin
Edition 33
Greetings...
Teachers,
One of our BHS colleagues found this quote in an article about the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals were floundering through this season until they made some BIG changes. It wasn't all easy or fun, but they worked through the changes. Now, they are the hottest team in baseball.
“It’ll work itself out” is on the gravestone of every mediocre and worse team that ever played"
It'll work itself out.
This will help me to make sure I don't get complacent.
Go forth assuredly into this school year!

Counselor Corner
A-D Counselor: Ms. Charlie Borel, E-K Counselor: Ms. Christine Bryan, L-R Counselor: Ms. Shannon Barber, S-Z Interim Counselor: Ms. Elaine Allen, College and Crisis Counselor: Ms. JoJo Breiner, Graduation Coach: Ms. Kim Garrott, Counseling Secretary/Registrar: Ms. Marina Sadler
*We're still registering new students almost daily. Thanks for being patient with your ever-changing class rosters!
*We're no longer making schedule changes unless to level classes or to comply with a student's IEP. Please check your mailboxes each morning to help us get students their new schedules. Thanks so much!
*We are preparing for Senior Meetings that will take place August 27-31 in Senior English classes to review graduation requirements, the college application process, TN Promise, HOPE and other scholarships along with information about ACT and NCAA. We are hoping that these meetings will help our seniors feel more prepared and less stressed during their eventful senior year.
*We are also planning our Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen meetings. We will be in contact with you about the times and dates for these meetings soon.
*We are planning a senior meet-and-greet for our new seniors. We will have a pizza party for them next Wednesday during Impact for our new seniors to meet some of our current seniors. We're hoping this will ease some of the stress that comes along with being new to a school AND being a senior. Be on the lookout for more emails and Impact passes regarding the party!
*Currently, our counselor/student ratio is 1:650. We appreciate your patience and assistance with helping us meet our students' needs!
*Groups with Ms. Breiner meet during Impact in the Counseling Conference Room. Tuesday: Anxiety Group; Wednesday: Low Self-Esteem Group; Thursday: GRIT Group. If you have any questions regarding these groups or would like to recommend a student to attend these groups, please email JoJo Breiner at breinerj@rcschools.net.
We are so thankful to be part of this team! Go Blaze!

There will be four inservices this year--one for each pillar. The others are: Effective Management, Activating Efficiency, and Mutual Direction.

Special Education Tips and Hints...
What is an IEP?
A significant part of ensuring the needs of a student with disabilities are met is the Individualized Education Program (IEP). An IEP is a written document for a student with one or more disabilities, which is developed, reviewed, and revised annually by the IEP team. Federal and state laws and regulations specify the information that must be documented in each student’s IEP and require that an IEP be in place by the beginning of the school year.
