Ganondagan
Friday's trip to Ganondagan was spectacular! This was my 15th year in a row visiting there and the program was never as engaging and thought provoking at it was on Friday. The kids began writing notes to our tour guide, Ronnie. Those who weren't able to finish on Friday will finish up tomorrow.
Math
Mrs. Close's Class ~ On Thursday, the kids took the rounding topic quiz. Look for those to come home corrected in your child's Friday Folder. It's likely that we'll also get to the addition/subtraction quiz during the upcoming week. Then we'll be moving on to the last section of Module 1 which focuses on what happens within the place value chart when a number is multiplied by 10.
ELA
Last week, the students were making inferences like crazy! I think they really enjoyed making inferences about me as I pulled things from my purse! Be sure to ask you child about that! Starting tomorrow, we're going to switch gears and focus on character traits. The kids are going to meet two new characters. It will be fun to analyze Reba Jo and Tadodaho.
I am looking forward to beginning our small group book clubs and a more regular writing routine!
Science
Our first official unit will begin soon! The study of plants is always a good review from when the kids were in the primary school. In 4th grade we take it just a step farther with hydroponics.
Special Opportunites
- Those kids who are serious about the GeoBee should plan to return their study sheets to me this week so I can correct them and then complete the last two sheets.
- On Thursday, Mrs. Coleates presented information on the Spelling Bee. Those interested should tell me by the end of the school day tomorrow.
