What is Superflex and the Unthinkables?
It is a curriculum that enhances a students social thinking skills to improve their interactions with others. Superflex is a superhero people have in their minds to help them use strategies to promote self-regulation, social thinking, and related social skills. The Superflex curriculum utilizes pro-social teaching methods to help students analyze the Unthinkables and come up with strategies to defeat them.
What are the benefits of the Social Thinking Curriculum?
The three-part cognitive behavioral curriculum helps students develop further awareness of their own thinking and social behaviors and learn strategies to help them develop better self-regulation across a range of behaviors.
Some of the Unthinkables!
The DOF: Destroyer of Fun
This character often pops up during games or activities. He make the person become overly competitive and insist on going first. He only wants to play his way and doesn't want to compromise with other players.
Rock Brain
Rock Brain gets the person to do only what he has decided he will do and won't negotiate. He struggles to problem solve and tries the same solution over and over again. He can be very rule bound and rigid in his thinking.
Mean Jean
This person becomes just plain mean. She will insult others, criticize, take things away, or be bossy.
A great program that allows us to learn about ourselves and to improve our social interactions and competencies. It helps us better connect with others !
