February 2022 Community Newsletter

Community Newsletter

We are excited to launch our community newsletter! We hope this will provide a window into what's happening within our community and keep you up to date with highlights from events, programs, and school celebrations.

This quarter has been rewarding in many ways and we are excited to share some great news with our community.

Harmony DC PCS opened its doors in the 2014-15 school year as a Kindergarten-5th grade elementary school. This year we added grades PK3 and PK4, and are now proudly serving students and families from PK3 through 5th grade.

BHM Music Program Recording

Harmony's Black History Month music program recording will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday February 15th and 16th. Students will wear their Harmony uniforms (khaki pants, not jeans) and may adorn them with black and green. Please prepare your student for the recording.

If you have additional questions, reach out to Ms. Berry at JBerry@HarmonyDC.org.

Strengthening Behavioral Health Survey

The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) has partnered with Child Trends, a nonprofit research organization, to learn about school behavioral health (SBH) services and supports at all public and public charter schools in DC.

Parents and caregivers, we want to hear from you! In an effort to strengthen student behavioral health programs, we ask that you contribute to the research by completing the short survey below. The finding will go directly to Child Trends who will then share it with Harmony DC PCS.

Please compete the survey by March 31, 2022.

ABC's of Black History/Blacks in Wax Celebration

Happy Black History Month!!! Harmony DC is proudly celebrating Black History Month with the ABC’s of Black History. Every day your scholar will learn a little bit about each of these figures as a way to celebrate Black culture, achievement, and excellence.

We would like each family to join us in the celebration. Each scholar will choose any Black figure that they would like to research and put together a poster or diorama, dress up as their figure, and present their knowledge to the class. Scholars are not limited to the choices on this list. The sky's the limit! Scholars can come in dressed as their figure with their projects next week on Thursday, February 17th, 2022. Scholars should be prepared to share a few facts about their person with their classmates and teachers.

We can’t wait to learn about all the amazing figures that you choose! If you have any questions, contact Mr. Montgomery by email: dmontgomery@harmonydc.org.
