Butler vs Bullying

On Monday, students received a 45 minute presentation given by former Green Bay Packer LeRoy Butler. The presentation was a synopsis of his life and experiences being bullied as a child in Jacksonville, Florida. He went on to explain how he overcame that adversity to become a Super Bowl champion!

This took place Monday, October 29th at 9:00 a.m. in the gym. Ask your children about the presentation!

Anti-Bullying House Presentations

In an effort to proactively address and teach school-wide expectations, our student services team and administrative team plan to meet with each house on a monthly basis. October focussed on anti-bullying. We spoke with students about:

  • What is bullying?
  • Bystander power
  • What to do if you are bullied or see bullying
  • Cyberbullying
  • "Stop" means stop
  • "I'm kidding" is not an excuse

Parents, you can help by reminding your children...

  • Keep hands, feet and objects to self
  • Not engage in horseplay
  • Speak up and tell peers to "stop" AND/OR
  • Speak with a trusted adult if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe

Student Council Spirit Week

Students and staff have been demonstrating school spirit this week! We have enjoyed seeing everyone's participation!

iPad Safety

You probably know that your child's iPad searches and access are filtered when they are at school. But did you know that they are only filtered at home if a family decides to do that within their own homes? There is an easy solution. Every iPad has restrictions or Screentime settings that can enable you, the parent to set restrictions to what you'd like your child to access. Please take a look at the following video of one of our Horning One sessions for more information: Screencast

To see more sessions that were offered during our Horning One Technology night or to get further information, please see the links in this document.

Lunch Time Supervision

At Horning we are committed to have a safe, welcoming lunch environment. As a part of our efforts we would like to have capable, enthusiastic lunchroom supervisors in the cafeteria. Here is where our Horning Community needs your help. We are looking for supervisors to monitor the cafeteria during our 1st lunch, which takes place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:18am-10:48am and Wednesday 10:34am-11:04am. This is a paid duty, $18 an hour. If you are interested in supervising, please send an email of interest to Kenyell Hutchins @ kfloydhutc@waukesha.k12.wi.us with your contact information included. Please note, a background check is required prior to start date. Looking forward to working with you in the near future.

Student Handbook

All students participated in a meet and greet presentation with the Student Services Team and Administration over the past two weeks. We all had a great time introducing ourselves in a fun interactive way. In the presentation, we went over school expectations around cell phones, dress code, nutrition and wellness, and, our school Horning Way expectations.
