Feeling Frustrated with Student Apathy? Get Strategies from Room 213!
A note from Special Education!
As you remember me mentioning at the beginning of the year, you are to be keeping work samples for students receiving Special Education Services as documentation of their progress or lack of in your course. NO, you do not need to keep everything, but YES, a couple of things each grading period. If you are not able to store these in your room, we have created a student folder in the Acc. Center for each student that we would be happy to store their work in. Please make sure that you give it to the Acc. Center staff or to your inclusion support so we can make sure we have this data. Work samples should identify what accommodations were provided for students on the assignment that supported the grade earned. If you have inclusion support in your classes, they are able to assist you in this.
Thank you all so much for continuing to support all of our students, it is much appreciated!
Indian Walks - December 9th
Mrs. Reynolds and the English Department have pulled together some writing support documents to help you in your classrooms.
The 5-finger paragraph and the writing process pencil will be made into posters for you to hang in your room. These posters are to be used as reminders for writing expectations for both students and teachers.
Student writing is IMPROVING and I attribute that to intentional efforts made by each of you. Thank you for supporting this initiative. Thank you for being intentional.
Our next Indian Walks is Monday, December 9th. I cannot wait to show off our success with new Indian Walks visitors!

SISD Board Meeting - December 9th
We will be presenting the 20-21 course guide to the board on December 9th. With this, we will also be asking the board to consider adding two additional programs of study for our students, AV Tech and Engineering. Required of these new programs are two additional teachers. And, with that comes growth!
We are already at capacity with occupied space. We even have several teachers who currently share rooms and they are very gracious and understanding with our request to share space. Adding two more teachers to our campus will come with some growing pains including teachers with fewer sections floating from room to room. This means you may be asked to give up your classroom during your conference.
I will be presenting three different scenarios to the board to consider. The scenarios include having teachers float or adding one or two portables. Once I know the direction of the board I will let you know. Please understand I don’t think it is ideal for teachers to float and I hope to present a picture to the board showing the movement it will create. However, if teachers must float I hope everyone can accept the growth as a positive direction for SHS and understand adding new opportunities is what is best for our students.
