Updated COVID-19 Guidance re: Isolation and Quarantine
Good Afternoon,
Like always, things are constantly changing and this past week was no different. We once again received new guidance (below) from New York State and Wayne County. At one point, we were receiving updates and changes daily. As of TODAY, here are the newest documents. Please look and familiarize yourself with the changes we are implementing, such as isolation and quarantine periods now being only 5 days.
Highlights include:
- Day zero is the first day of symptoms or the date tested, whichever comes first. Day 1 through 5 the student is in isolation on quarantine. For example: Sal has symptoms on Saturday and tests positive on Sunday. Saturday is Day 0 and Sunday is Day 1. Thursday is then Day 5 and the student would return to school Friday if symptom free.
- Schools are no longer required to contact trace. This is a process that occurs when a person comes in “close “contact with a diagnosed person. The district will be giving either a courtesy call or will send a letter via parent square in specific cases where we believe contact was made. Clusters will also be examined. A mandatory quarantine will only be made by Wayne County Public Health.
Home Test Update:
- If you or someone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19 on a home test, you will need to upload that positive result to Wayne County Public Health here: COVID-19 Positive Home Test Reporting (jotform.com). This will prompt someone from Public Health to contact you.
- If you weren't able to pick up your Home Test Kit for your student(s) at one of the two dates we provided drive through pick up, you can stop by our District Office to pick up your Test Kit(s). We are located at 100 East Miller Street (4th Floor above Police Dept).
Thank you again for your patience regarding this information. By continuing to work together we can keep our students and staff safe and healthy in order to keep our classrooms opened and focused on learning.
