What's Happening at Kinsner
1. MIGHTY MUSTANG AWARD- At the end of every month, teachers select one student in their class who was exhibiting PRIDEful behavior throughout the month. The student gets a Model Mustang Ribbon and a picture taken to be posted on the board and cheered by their peers.
2. 5TH GRADE JOBS- 5th grade students can apply for a different job every month. From Flag Raisers to Book Shelvers, students get an opportunity to learn the importance of responsibility.
3. GOLDEN PLATE AWARD- During lunch, if the entire class is neat, respectful, and keep a low volume, the class can earn a Weekly Golden Plate. Having the Golden Plate award allows the class to be first to recess, a go noodle dance, and (if they earn the Golden Plate 4 times) Pie a staff member in the face.
4. PRIDE RAFFLE (*new)- Teachers pass out two raffle tickets to any student throughout the week that show some element of pride for the month. On Friday, the raffle is drawn for each grade level and the winners of each grade level may go to the office to collect a prize from the mystery closet.
Continue to have discussions with your child and their teacher as there is always something new and exciting happening at Kinsner!!!

Tier II- Small Groups for Social, Academic, Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS)
Over the course of the last three years the Strongsville City School elementary buildings have implemented the Social, Academic, Emotional, Behavior Risk Screener in conjunction with the district's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports initiative known as P.R.I.D.E. The purpose of the S.A.E.B.R.S. screener is to offer support to our students in the social and emotional domain, much like the AIMSWEB does in the academic domain. The S.A.E.B.R.S. is composed of three different sections which include a social, academic, and emotional behavior subset. The social section assesses students on behaviors such as arguing, cooperation with peers, temper outbursts, disruptive behaviors, polite and socially appropriate behaviors toward others, and impulsiveness. The academic section includes behaviors related to interest in academic topics, preparedness for instruction, production of acceptable work, difficulty working independently, distractedness, and academic engagement. The emotional subset include behaviors of sadness, fearfulness, adaptability to change, positive attitude, worry, difficulty rebounding from setbacks, and withdrawal.
Starting in December elementary teachers are being asked to complete a S.A.E.B.R.S. form for their class as they observe their students over the course of one month. Once the S.A.E.B.R.S. data sheets are completed, the sheets will be scored and subsequent small group invitations will be sent out. These Tier II small group opportunities are voluntary and at the discretion of the student's parents and/or guardian. If you receive a small group invitation for the S.A.E.B.R.S. and you believe this would benefit your child, please complete the Informed Consent form and return to me by the designated date. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you.
