From Our School Nurse!
Dear Parents,
I am back in the Health office between the hours of 9:00-3:00 Monday – Friday next week with the exception of Wednesday August 18, 2021, please feel free to drop off allergy/asthma/seizure/diabetes action plans, prescription and over the counter medications as well as updated vaccination records.
Senior parents please be sure that you student is up to date with their vaccinations!! In 2020 the General Assembly passed House Bill 1090. This bill amends the minimum vaccination requirements for students attending a public or private elementary, middle or high school. It also amends the vaccination requirements for students in a childcare center, nursery school, family home day care, or developmental center.
Per the passage of this bill, this legislation becomes effective July 1, 2021, and amends the Code of Virginia § 32.1-46. A.4 to require:
● Two doses of properly spaced human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine (for males and females). The first dose shall be administered before the child enters the seventh grade. (Per this bill, the parent or guardian, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine, after reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health)
● Two properly spaced doses of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra). The first dose shall be administered prior to entry to the seventh grade. The second dose shall be administered prior to entry to the twelfth grade.
Proof of your child having received all required immunizations must be submitted to your child’s school prior to August 26, 2021 for your child to be allowed to attend school.
Please feel free to contact me @ Robyn.wisti@lcps.org or 703-996-2106 if you have any questions or concerns or if you need to schedule a different time to drop of action plans/meds/vaccination records.
