The Collegiate Connection
September 26, 2021
A Message from Dr. Lewis
It’s a great day to be a Longhorn! This week was our Gear Up and Go Get it Week and we had great participation from our staff and scholars. The purpose of the week was to bring awareness to different college options available and to put on our scholar’s mind at an early age what they can look forward to as they gain more insight on career pathways.
As a family, our entire school joined together to celebrate the International Day of Peace, which is observed around the world on September 21. We joined our neighboring campus, Lake Ridge Elementary School, which Is the Montessori school in our district in singing “Light a Candle for Peace”. We took this moment as an opportunity to also remember our dearly departed librarian, Ms. Gena Jackson.
Because I am Prairie View A&M University PROUD, I had the honor of sharing with our scholars a few PVAMU traditions as we prepared for my Alma Matter to be in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. It was a great pleasure to see our PVAMU Panthers defeat Grambling State University.
This past Thursday was our virtual open house and a lot of great information was shared. In case you missed it you can click here and view the live sessions.
You will be receiving an email or phone call from your scholar’s teacher to schedule a parent conference within the next two weeks. ALL Collegiate Prep parents will conference with their scholar’s teacher before October 8, 2021.
We ended the week with our teachers sharing with our scholars all of the clubs we have to offer this school year and our Collegiate Prep family meeting up at the Football game to see our Highsteppers perform.
Let’s make this week a great week and we look forward to framing the masterpiece in our scholars.

Scholar of the Month
Meet Mrs. Palmer-McKinney
Greetings Collegiate Prep Family,
My name is Myisha Palmer-McKinney and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our beloved Prep scholars, families, fellow educators and Cedar Hill community as Assistant Principal.
I have been in education for 13 years, and 8 of those years were spent teaching English Language Arts to scholars in 7-9th grade. I later served as Special Education Coordinator, then served as an Instructional Facilitator at Cedar Hill Collegiate Academy and High. I am a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English and a Master’s of Education in Leadership from Concordia University in Austin.
My goal is to maintain a positive and safe learning environment where every scholar experiences success. I will work under Dr.Lewis’s leadership to provide the support and resources necessary to reach our campus’s fullest potential. I look forward to a positive, productive year, full of proud moments and student successes.
It’s a Great Day To Be A Longhorn!
