All excuse notes must be submitted within 5 days of absence to be excused.
If reporting technology issues please note it must be reported within 24hrs of the absence in order to be excused. The update was sent on December 11th’s Smart ReStart and December 13th’s KVA Update.
*NEW* KVA Attendance
Effective January 5, 2021, if your student is unable to attend a class period or full day of learning in KVA due to a Technology/Internet/Power Outage, a parent/guardian of the student should notify the Attendance Office of an absence with 24 hours of the absence. The absence will not be updated to excused unless written/phone call notification has been made by the parent/guardian to the Campus Attendance Office.
***For attendance corrections: Please contact the teacher as the first point of contact regarding a student's presence/absence/tardiness in class, especially if you have received an automated call from the District. Contact the teacher the same day if possible.

Important:
Are you having someone in your family tested for COVID? Due to the possibility of transmission between family members, we request that you keep everyone home until you have the results of the test. Student absences will be excused while you are waiting for test results, and students can access assignments through Canvas. Just contact our office to let us know, so that we can guide you on next steps.
Top Questions Answered:
Someone in our family has COVID… Now what??
If you have a positive case in your home, your student will need to quarantine for a period of 14 days before returning to campus. Your student will be able to access their assignments through Canvas while they are home. If you are unsure about this process, please contact us for guidance.
My child was exposed to COVID… Now what??
If your Tays student was exposed to COVID, please contact the nurse’s office for guidance and next steps. When and where the exposure happened can make a big difference in what you should do next. Testing too soon can result in a false negative test result, so it’s important to know the optimal time to test. Not sure? We are here, and we are more than happy to help.
My child has COVID… Now what??
If your Tays student has tested positive for COVID, please contact the nurse’s office to inform us so that we can begin our contact tracing and so that we may guide you on your student’s return to school process. Also, and this is very important, your student must fill out the COVID-19 self-reporting tile on the My Katy Cloud. Please make sure your student is logged in under their ID. When they fill out the tile, please make sure they are accurate in filling out the date that they were last on campus and when filling out the information about their close contacts. Close contacts are students that they sit with at lunch and anyone they may have been around at school without their mask on.
Does You Student Need to Take Medication at School?
Please contact the clinic for the appropriate forms and procedures for dropping off medications.
Other Questions or Concerns? Please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic any time!
