A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Johnson:
We had a fabulous Friday! Our Longhorns slid into their houses and received house lanyards and IDs. After, we competed in our first house challenges. I've posted a few pictures below but there are more on our Facebook page. If your student was absent today, we will assign them a house when he/she returns to school. MONDAY is our first COLOR OUT day. All Longhorns are encouraged to dress in their house colors to help celebrate their house.
Now that our Longhorns have lanyards and IDs, house lanyards must be worn at all times. They are part of our dress code. Student must wear PRMS lanyards. Wearing our lanyards helps us quickly identify all of our Longhorns. If your Longhorn forgets their lanyard at home, it may be dropped off in the front office. We will not call students down to collect lanyards. It is the responsibility of the student to check for lanyards in the front office. If a student does not have a lanyard, they will be sent to lunch detention. We will give students the opportunity to check the front office for lanyards, before going to lunch detention.
We have been showing grace and respectfully reminding students about our dress code policy. Monday, we will begin enforcing our dress code policy. I have included a dress code graphic below for more information regarding dress code.
Pick up and dismissal car rider lines have been moving faster everyday. Once we open the gym doors at 7:30 AM, the line moves through in less than 10 minutes. Do NOT drop off your student on the side of the building. During dismissal, if all cars move up to allow the maximum amount of cars to load at a time, we are able to get all cars through in less than 15 minutes. I know it may seem silly to watch your Longhorn walk along side your vehicle while you move forward, but it makes a huge difference in the amount of time it takes to get everyone loaded.
Finally, if you have questions, please email or call us. We do not always see questions posted in Facebook comments. It has been an amazing first week of school. We're excited and can't wait to see everything our 2022-2023 Longhorns will accomplish. Thank you for sharing these awesome kiddos with us. They are why we do what we do. We have gotten to know and love them all in one week.
Reminder: If you need to change your child's transportation throughout the school year, please call the front office at 832-223-4500 before 3:00 pm. You do not need to notify the office if your child knows how they are going home. You need to call the office if it is a change in transportation. We will not accept transportation changes after 3:00 pm. We will be sure to deliver a note to your student. Also, if you need to pick up your child for an appointment, etc, the latest time that we release students is 3:15 pm.
I hope you have a great weekend!

A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Johnson
MONDAY, all students will report to the gym in the morning. Car riders will enter through the gym doors. Doors will open at 7:30 am. We will be outside, waiving and greeting our new students. Bus riders will enter through the cafeteria doors. Our amazing staff will also be stationed at the bus porch to greet and welcome our new students there too. Staff members and our awesome Dads on Duty volunteers will be placed all over the building to help greet and get our Longhorns to the right place. In the gym, PRMS teachers will greet students and will help students get to where their day will begin. PLEASE NOTE that parents are NOT permitted to walk students in on the first day (...and they usually don't want you to. They're 6th graders now. I know it's tough, but we've got them!). Students ONLY need a lunch (if they eat one from home) and something to write with and on. They do NOT need to bring supplies with them on the first day.
Reminder: If you need to change your child's transportation throughout the school year, please call the front office at 832-223-4500 before 3:00 pm. We will not accept transportation changes after 3:00 pm. We will be sure to deliver a note to your student. Also, if you need to pick up your child for an appointment, etc, the latest time that we release students is 3:15 pm.
If you haven't completed beginning of the year forms, please take a few minutes to do that and to register your student for a SMART tag. Below is parent information about SMART tags.
We can't wait for our first day of school with our new Longhorns! It's going to be a great year!
Sincerely,
Stacie Johnson, Principal

PRMS Houses:
REVEUR (blue) is the house of DREAMERS. They dream big ideas and then make it happen with hard work.
ISIBINDI (green) is the house of COURAGE. They stand up for what is right and have the courage to do the things they have never done.
AMISTAD (orange) is the house of FRIENDSHIP. They hold a standard that all people are created equal and friendship is the path to success.
Each student has been given a lanyard and ID with a plastic case. This lanyard is to be with them at all times when on our campus. This is MANDATORY for safety and will be a requirement through the entire maroon track.

A Message from the Principal, Mrs. Johnson:
With only ONE week left until we welcome all our new Longhorns to PRMS, we wanted to help transition you and your student into the wonderful world of secondary education. On the FIRST day of school, all students will report to the gym. Car riders will enter through the gym doors and bus riders will enter the building through the cafeteria doors. We will help our Longhorns get to the right place, as staff members will be stationed throughout the building. In the gym, PRMS teachers will greet students and help them get to where their day will begin.
Now, let's talk about schedules. They will not be finalized until August 18th. Our amazing counselors are busy scheduling students and leveling out classes. Most students will get their first choice elective, some will get their second choice. We did not have to schedule past a student's second choice. Yay!
We will be at the Lamar CISD Block Party tomorrow, August 13th from 8 AM-12 PM. Stop by and visit with us at the PRMS table. Enjoy your last week of summer. We can't wait to kick off the 2022-2023 school year!
