Principal's Message
Good Afternoon Patriots!
I am thrilled to be returning to Leavitt full time on Monday, 11/20/23. Some 8th grade students may remember me from their 6th grade school year (as I was there for a short time). I am excited to work with you and your student for the best possible educational experience. If you need anything, please reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Lana Roper
Free Tutoring on Campus
Now is a good time to make sure that students are getting caught up and have assignments turned in. Free tutoring for all grades and core subjects is available in room 816 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15pm-3:45pm. Students who take the bus will be able to ride the late bus home.
Dress Code and Nuisance Items
Students should come to school ready to learn each and every day. As such, blankets and stuffed animals are not appropriate for the learning environment. Students who bring blankets and/or stuffed animals to school will have their items confiscated. Please speak to your student regarding appropriate dress for school and keeping personal items (that are not used for learning) at home.
Per the handbook:
Items not directly associated with the educational program are not to be brought to school. These items include but are not limited to: radios, laser pointers, cell phones that are on during school, electronic games, cameras, water guns, yo-yos, balloons, flowers, rubber bands, pets, stuffed animals, playing cards, and permanent markers. Students found in possession of such items will have the items confiscated, and they will only be returned to a parent or guardian. Leavitt Middle School is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged nuisance items. At the end of the year, remaining confiscated items will be donated to charity.
For 2nd semester, we will adjust the morning arrival procedure and after school procedures for dismissal. More information to follow.
Lunchroom Procedures (updated)
Please speak with your student about the new lunch procedure beginning Monday, November 20th. We are doing this to assist with the trash being left in the quad, pigeons, and for supervision of students. Thanks!
