Definition

A supernova is an exploding star. It has many colors and is very bright. Supernovae is different from a regular nova. A regular nova is when only the stars surface explodes. A supernova is when the star's core collapes then explodes.

Why it occurs

A supernova happens when a star's core collapes. It is very hot and it can take a few days or weeks.

Famous supernova

One famous supernova is the Kepler supernova. It happened in 1604. The colors in it were red,green,and blue.

Fun facts

Earth came from a supernova about four billion years ago. A supernova can outshine the entire galaxy. At the end it can form into a neutron star or a black hole.
