Innovative Learning
Students have been dabbling in engineering projects through Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) projects. They are learning skills that are in high demand in the 21st century.
“The class provides students with hands-on experiences where they create and sometimes destroy things,” said STEM Teacher Eric Rexer.
Sixth-graders work with concrete and electric circuits
Seventh-graders dabble in coding
Eighth-graders experiment with control circuits
STEM gives students the opportunity to engage in projects that they may not encounter in their everyday lives.
“I like the progression in the topics from sixth-grade to eighth-grade. We start by making things literally from dirt (concrete), then from refined materials (electric circuits), then we add some logic (coding). After that we make things move, detect the surroundings, and create sounds (control circuits),” Dr. Rexer said.
For pictures of the class, please visit the school's Facebook page or the Google Doc Folder.

Requesting Vaccine Cards
If you have had your child fully vaccinated for COVID, please send us a copy of your child's vaccination card so it can be added to your D103 students' health records. At this time, fully vaccinated students are not required to quarantine if they are identified as a close contact as long as they remain asymptomatic. Students are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose was received. Students who show COVID 19 symptoms will still need a negative test prior to entering school regardless of vaccination status. You can track the percent of students vaccinated on our D103 COVID Dashboard.
Please use one of the following methods to provide us your child's vaccine card along with the student's first name, last name, and grade level: fax, email, mail, or physically dropping off a copy to the school.

Volunteers Needed for 5K Run Committee
The 2022 D103 PTO 5K is in jeopardy and we need your help!
The 5K event helps fund significant projects at our schools and is a much-loved springtime event in our community.
We are asking for your support to help us keep this event going. If you have previously attended and enjoyed the 5K, please consider volunteering for the core 5K committee (planning and organization).
5K Committee meetings are a fun way to participate in the PTO and give back to the schools.
And yes, you can volunteer to help out and still run at the event!
Please email 5k@d103pto.org if you are interested in helping out and we will reach out with more information.
