Music to your Ears Timothy Burke
A concert can create an intimate physical connection with the artist and its fans , it is important to create visual connections between audience and orchestra. Seeing the performers face and emotions will influence the perception of their concert. 85% of our sensory perception is through our eyes.
While the visual helps with the connection, at concerts the audience is primarily there to hear the performance. The acoustics is very important while the audience wants to have the feeling of intimacy or presence ( depending on the concert type) . Good projection , clarity and sound balance is very important. Reverberation time is important here as the longer the better as it emphasizes the clarity and projection of sound.
