Message from the Principal

Dear Virginia Lake Families,

Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a fabulous 2022! We hope you had an enjoyable winter break with your families. We can’t wait to welcome all of our students back tomorrow, on Monday, January 10th.

A friendly reminder that doors open at 8:20 a.m. and school begins at 8:35 a.m. Adult supervision outside also begins at 8:20 a.m.

Lanyards will no longer be checked upon arrival beginning after winter break. Families are certifying their child is healthy, by sending them to school.

Thank you for supporting Virginia Lake’s PBIS program! We raised $1,889 for our students. Our PBIS program supports making good choices at school. Our staff teaches the expectations at school and provides incentives ( Dolphin Dollars) to students for following the expectations. The money we raised will be used to purchase items for our PBIS Dolphin Cart.

I am including the cold weather recess guidelines for families to review. Students will be outside to the greatest extent possible. Now that we have snow on the ground, we will be implementing the following rules for students to stay dry in the snow.

Students with snow pants and boots are welcome to play anywhere during recess, including the field. Students with boots may play on the blacktop and playground. Students with gym shoes will be asked to play on the blacktop. If your child is in need of snow pants or boots, please contact one of our social workers, Ms. Maria Majewska, or Ms. Savanna Murphy,

Please send your child to school with their cold weather items on or in a bag for storage. We also kindly ask that families assist us by teaching your child how to independently put on their snow pants and boots. We thank you in advance for your help!

Please follow Virginia Lake Elementary on Facebook. Beginning after break, we will be highlighting all of our classrooms for one week by sharing activities that students are engaged in.

Let’s make it a great week!

With Kindest Regards,

Patti Van Winkle, Principal

Family Collaboration Survey- Midyear Check-In

We are extending the survey timeline for our Family Collaboration Survey. Please consider completing the survey, as the information you share will be utilized by our committee.

We are seeking your input to follow up on our initial survey from the beginning of the year, to gain valuable insights into how things have been going at Virginia Lake this school year. The initial information that families shared was analyzed and several adjustments have been made at our school. We are asking you to complete this brief follow-up survey. Results from this survey will be analyzed by our Family Collaboration Team. We will work together to improve the climate and culture of our school community to create an optimal learning environment for all of our students.
