Picking Stickies
K-12
Big Idea
Directions
2) They stick it on the back of another student without identifying to the student the character.
3) That person matches up with another student.
4) Person A in the new paired group reads the qualities listed to person B. Person B tries to guess who the character is based on the qualities listed.
5) Person B then reads the qualities listed on the sticky note of person A and A tries to guess the character.
6) Once both characters are identified correctly, each person returns to his/her desk and picks one of the qualities to write a one-sentence summary about how the character exhibits this quality. This summary is written at the top of the right side of the sticky note.
7) The summarizer then returns the Sticky Note to the original owner. The original owner must find a "significant quote" from the text that supports this quality/summary. The "most significant quote" and citation are written below the line on the second half of the right side of the sticky note.

Strategy Variations
Advanced learners would be asked to properly introduce the quote and give proper citations. They could also be asked to compare the character quality to another character they are reading about in their outside reading book and provide evidence.
