Pioneer Trail Elementary
Parent Update - March 17, 2020
NOTE FROM THE ADMIN.....
As you know by now, Pioneer Trail Elementary and the entire Jefferson City School District will begin an extended closure of our schools on Wednesday, March 18th and continue through Friday, April 3rd (this closure includes the district’s Spring Break, which was already scheduled for March 23rd-27th). Schools will reopen no earlier than Monday, April 6th. We will share information as soon as decisions are made should we determine it is necessary to extend the closure beyond the determined date. We do this with heavy hearts in these uncertain times but the safety of our students, families and employees are of the utmost importance.
All students today will be bringing home additional books from our school library, learning materials and instructions for you and additional information will be mailed to your home in the next two days. Students in 2nd-5th Grade will be bringing Chromebooks and instructions home for additional online learning experiences. However, if your child forgot something, or if they were not at school today and you need to pick up their learning materials, the office will be open tomorrow between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, or Thursday between 8 am and 12:00 pm. Please adhere to these times so we can keep the number of people in the building low.
While the school will be closed during the week of March 30th, Teachers will be available the week of 3-30 through 4-3 to be of assistance to families by answering parent emails, calling parents and students to check-in and offer support on academics, and also updating their websites between the hours of 9:00-2:00. You can also reach me through email at scott.salmons@jcschools.us if there is anything I can do for you.
The purpose of the extended closure is so students are fairly isolated from each other. We certainly encourage that you go for walks and get fresh air, play in the yard, and spend some family time outside. We need to follow the advice of health officials so we can all stay healthy, keep the virus from spreading, and can return to school for the remainder of the year.
As always, we thank you and appreciate you for your continued support. We care for your children tremendously and will miss them during this time away. Please reach out if you have any questions or we can be of service to your family in this time of need. Stay safe and healthy!
Sincerely,
Scott Salmons, Principal
