This will be the last weekly newsletter for the school year but we will post important information and updates to keep you informed whenever necessary through social media, schoology, the school's website and bulldog text and voice alerts.

Great Job by the Food Services Department & Cafeteria Staff!

We want to thank all the terrific staff who helped with the food distributions since they began in Mid-March. It took several hours each delivery day to sort, pack, load, serve, then load and unload back at school.

Our staff and other volunteers did a great job helping to feed our Elida students during the COVID quarantine. Thank you for your work and commitment to our Elida families!

Summer Lunch Program June 1st-July 30th

Free lunches will be available to Elida students over the summer months (June 1-July 30) through the Summer Lunch Program with Lima City Schools. Distributions on Mondays & Wednesdays from 11:00 am-12:30 pm at several locations. Read this document from Lima City Schools to learn more about the program.

8th grade Recognition Ceremony-Drive Up!

The 8th grade recognition Drive-Up procession was held on Thursday, May 28th. The students received t-shirts, awards and graduation certificates and a final goodbye from staff and personal well wishes from Principal Drury. The event was streamed live on the district's facebook page.

News From the Nursing Department: Immunizations

In accordance with the Ohio Department of Health, the following are Required Immunizations for 2020-21 School Year:

KINDERGARTEN: all incoming kindergarten students are required to have the following immunizations prior to the start of the year: 1. DTap 2. Polio 3. MMR 4. Hep B 5. Varicella (chickenpox)

7th GRADE: all incoming 7th graders are required to have the following two immunizations prior to the start of the year: 1. Tdap (Adacel or Boostrix) & 2. Meningococcal (Menactra)

12th GRADE: all incoming 12th graders are required to have the following immunization prior to the start of the school year: Meningococcal (Menactra)

**You can obtain these vaccines from the Allen County Health Department , (appointment call 419-228-4457) or your family doctor.

American Township Community Clean-Up day: June 6th

The annual Community Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, June 6th at the Elida Middle School West parking lot 8:00 am -Noon No paint, solvents or chemicals. Proof of Residency is required.

The Boy Scouts will NOT be assisting this year, so individuals are responsible to unload their own materials. Sponsored by The American Twp. Trustees and North Central Ohio Solid Waste District


The Alternate Address Transportation Request forms are to notify the Transportation Department that your child riding the bus will be coming from and/or going to a location (sitter or daycare) other than your home address and for a request for open enrollment transportation. In previous years, a letter and form were mailed to you to be completed and returned. Starting this year, this form WILL NOT BE MAILED but is available by completing the forms via this ON-LINE LINK to submit them. This year the form submissions are due by JULY 1st as school starts August 11th. Questions can be directed to the transportation department at 419-331-4135 or 419-331-4036.

Rhodes State Manufacturing & Production Tech Summer 8 week Program

High School students /parents: Rhodes State College is offering special 8 week Manufacturing Skills and Production Technician certification programs for high school students interested in high demand manufacturing careers. The Summer Program courses offer an alternative pathway to graduation, are instructor led/on-line and begin June 2nd. Read more in this article.

Summer Library Program : Drive-Up in June!

This year's library program is a little different than previous years. We are providing To-Go Reading and Activity Packets for our students PK-6 grades. Each week, packets will be available with reading activities, arts/crafts and STEM challenges.Here are the dates/times for pick-up in front of Elida Elementary School: Wed., June 10, Wed., June 17 & Wed., June 24th from 10 am-11 am. Drive- up in front of the elementary & library staff will bring the Free packets to you! First Come First Serve Basis. Read more in this flyer.

Elida Local Schools Summer Library Program 2020

A Note from the Athletic Department:

The 20-21 physical form along with the athletic paperwork for the 20-21 season has been updated on the athletic page. If you go the the ATHLETIC PAGE and look under documents you should find all the information. With the cancellation of the free physicals at OIO, we will have a large amount of athletes that will need new physicals in order to start lifting, conditioning and practicing once the restrictions are lifted for schools. We encourage you to start making your physical appointments now before the doctor offices become bombarded.

The deadline for applying for open enrollment for those "reapplying" has been extended to May 15th but should be returned as soon as possible. All new applicants should turn in their application and proof of residency as soon as possible. A child who will be 5 years of age on or before August 1, 2020 and lives in the Elida Local School district is eligible to attend Kindergarten classes at Elida Elementary School.
