Symbolism Meaning
Symbolism means the double meaning of a word. It has one more meaning that is a little more technical than the other. I think that the authors use it to make the readers think about what that certain thing represents or means.
Symbolism Examples
There are many examples of symbolism. For example, in the outsiders they had another meaning for the switchblade. Originally a knife is to cut things but in the outsiders it means they are tough. Another example is the color red. It can symbolize love but it can also mean blood or hurt. He is a rock could mean that he is literally a rock, or it can mean that he is strong and dependable. Love is jewelry can mean that love is like a necklace or it can mean that it is rare and valuable. Another example is black can be a color but it can also mean a death or evil.
Imagery Meaning
Imagery is using sensory details like the 5 senses. Authors will use this type of words to communicate so the readers can get a real life visual of what is happening in the story.
