SLCS District Update
June 1, 2023
Superintendent's Update
Good evening SLCS Families and Staff Members,
Tomorrow is the last day of school for our seniors who will soon be joining a distinguished class of SLCS alumni. On behalf of the entire community, I want to offer “Congratulations!” and “Best Wishes!” to the members of the Class of 2023 and their families.
Seniors from both SLHS and SLEHS have upheld the tradition of excellence associated with our district through their many accomplishments in the areas of academics, athletics, and the arts. Through their many accomplishments, our seniors have represented themselves, their families, schools, and community with distinction.
On June 10th, members of the Class of 2023 will enter the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth as high school seniors and leave as high school graduates. May they forever wear the label of SLCS alumni with honor, dignity, and pride.
As the graduates look back over their school career, may their high school years serve as an example that no challenge is too great to overcome. They will move on from SLCS with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to meet the promising future for which they are destined. May each of you make a positive difference in your piece of the world!
Congratulations Class of 2023!
SLCS Grads!

High School Summer School-Deadline is Monday, June 5th
SLCS will be offering high school credit recovery for our current ninth through eleventh grade students again this summer. South Lyon Community Schools is pleased to be able to offer this program again at no cost to families for this year thanks to Federal and State Grant Funds made available to the district for a credit recovery program. Students who register for our summer school program must attend all sessions and pass the course content to earn recovery credits toward graduation.
The high school credit recovery summer program will be held at South Lyon East High School and will consist of two sessions.
Session 1: June 26th - July 25th, 2023 (no classes July 3rd and July 4th)
Session 2: July 31st - August 24th, 2023
Classes will run Monday through Thursday each week from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
Based on our registration numbers, classes may be offered with South Lyon teachers or through our partner, Graduation Alliance. Classes taught by South Lyon teachers will be in-person. Classes offered through Graduation Alliance will be offered in a hybrid format with students required to be on-site in our learning lab at South Lyon East High School to complete their work. This learning lab will be staffed with a South Lyon Community Schools teacher who will be there to assist students.
If you are interested in having your student participate in the high school credit recovery program, please fill out the registration form below completely. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. Once all available seats are filled, we will create a waitlist for those students who did not get an available seat in their preferred course.
If you have any questions about which course(s) your student should register for, please contact your student’s guidance counselor. They can provide updated information about which courses your student needs to complete to recover credits needed for graduation.
