BHS Counselor Update
March 23-27
Students,
We hope that you are getting comfortable with your Google classrooms and have made contact with all of your teachers this week. We understand that this is a tough situation. You are concerned about your grades, GPA, ranking, and the list goes on. Please know that we are working hard as a district to ensure that student's academic performance will not be negatively impacted by things that are out of our control.
When we feel out of control it seems like all aspects of our life are spinning so fast that we can't get a grip on any one thing. That can definitely lead to some increased anxious thinking and loads of worry that weigh heavy on you. Both are unhealthy. Focusing on what we can control can help calm your mind and give you a sense of accomplishment in the midst of chaos.
The things that you can control right now related to school come down to two things: 1) communication with your teachers via email, phone or Google Classroom and 2) accessing assignments through your Google Classrooms or packets that are being prepared for you.
Please continue to contact either myself or Mr. Patrick via email if there is anything we can do to help you during this week or next. We miss you and pray that you and your family remain healthy.
ATTENTION SENIORS
We want to stay in close communication with you during this time. Please make sure you have joined the BHS Senior Remind account by texting @patrick12 to 81010. This will ensure that you are up to date on any changes that might take effect in the coming weeks.
TAKE A LITTLE TIME...
SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarship page has been updated. I will continue to update the web page as scholarships come in. I will also alert you via the Senior Remind account.
SAT
The College Board has canceled the March 28, 2020, and May 2, 2020, national test administrations. Registered students will receive a refund. The College Board has not yet canceled the national SAT test administration scheduled for June 6, 2020. The College Board is assessing future testing opportunities as well as drafting guidance on school day administrations for the SAT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9. The College Board will update its webpage regularly with information about the impact of the coronavirus.
To help students keep their college readiness skills sharp while many schools are closed, the College Board and Khan Academy continue to provide free resources online, including full-length practice tests and personalized learning tools at khanacademy.org/sat.
ACT
ACT has rescheduled the April 4, 2020, national test administration to June 13, 2020. ACT will send an email to registered students with instructions on how to reschedule. ACT is assessing guidance on district/school day administrations and has created a webpage with real-time updates for this evolving situation
