MASK EXPECTATIONS

We have face masks in the office, but the expectation is that students will bring and properly wear a mask over the nose and mouth each school day.

We will not be giving out disposable paper masks. We have cloth masks that students will check out and return to their 7th period teacher. If a mask is not returned, students will be assessed a $5 fine.

Pro Tip: put a mask in your backpack each night when you get your things ready for school the next day.

We want everyone to practice good health hygiene including washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap, using hand sanitizer (available in every classroom and the office), and wearing a mask. Also, wash your mask daily and be safe.

  • Buses will run as normal.

EARLY OUT - FORTIFY 45

Just like a good meal can energize and fortify a body, with our Early Out Schedule this year we have developed (and will continue to develop) ways in which we can use 45 minutes each afternoon to help our students' succeed. Here are some of the plans we have developed so far:

1-Students may self-select to come in for homework help or make-up work with a teacher. Teachers will be available Tues-Friday during their priority dat for students seeking help. SEE PRIORITY DAY SCHEDULE BY DEPARTMENT IN ABOVE STORY.

2- Teachers may request a student stay after to work on make-up work or content mastery. Teachers will contact parents for assistance and permission in this situation.

3- Teachers with quarantine students will have office hours available to answer questions, re-teach or demonstrate labs, etc, via Zoom.

CELL PHONE USAGE

At SFJHS, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn

and succeed while they are at school with us. As a result, we would like your support to keep our classrooms cell phone free. Students are expected to leave their cell phones in one of two places during class time:

1- In their closed backpacks

3- Where available, in the phone caddy or charging station that some classrooms have.

If you need to reach your student during class time, we ask you contact the front

office (801-798-4075) and we will get the message to your child. Please help your child to

“disconnect” for these few hours each day.
